Vitamin K

Vitamin K is used in the diet in cases where there has been a loss of large amounts of blood (such as before and after surgery). However, since this vitamin is insoluble in water, and its use in the clinic has been limited, until 1943 when Paladin synthesized new preparation of vitamin K - vikasol which is soluble in water.

Important therapeutic use of vitamin K is as an antidote to the anti hydroxycoumarin drugs.

This vitamin is also used to reduce excessive menstrual outflow.
